Just something from the back of my head.  It jumped out from
behind a *real* thought when I wasn't paying attention.  :)



              Easy Come, Easy Go


"Ranma, you cur!  You will not defile Akane with..."

<BOPBOP>

Kunou Tatewaki slumps to the ground, two nicely symmetrical
footprints on his face.  The last thing Kunou sees are the doors
of the bath house swinging shut behind the lovely Tendou Akane and
the much-hated Saotome Ranma.

There is no dream in his sleep.


"Urrr... Rrraaahh...  Rrrannmaahh..."

With a sudden heave the slumped body before the bath house sits
up.

"Ranma you..."

Kunou looks left and right.  No sight of his rival.

He stands up and gets ready to go home when suddenly the door of
the public bath opens and hits him in the head.  When the stars in
his vision give way to normal sight again, Kunou sees Akane leave
the bath with... with the Pigtailed Girl!

"My loves!  Tendou Akane - Pigtail Girl, I love..."

He freezes.  *She went *in* with Ranma and comes *out* with the
Pigtail Girl...*

Behind his blinking eyelids images flash.

Falling into a pool with Ranma, but finding only the Pigtail Girl.

<flash>

Embracing the Pigtail Girl, only to have her magically replaced by
Ranma.

<flicker>

Going to the bath with the Pigtail Girl, only to have Kodachi
interrupt and Ranma replace his love before his eyes.

<flash>

Dozens of scenes replay themselves, faster and ever faster.
Suddenly it stops.  A chart with Ranma and the Pigtail Girl
depicted next to each other pops up.  Identical details begin to
label themselves.

Same pigtail - check!

Same hairstyle - check!

Same facial structure - check!

Same clothes - check!

Same speech pattern - check!

Same fighting skills - check!

Same mode of behavior - check!

Never seen together - check!

Always seen where the other one was *just* a moment ago - check!

Check!

Check!

Check!

Suddenly all the pictures disappear to be replaced by a simple
equation in pictorials:

Ranma  +  splash of water  =  Pigtail Girl

Kunou blinks.

Before him stand Akane and the Pigtail Girl looking at him.  Akane
says "Kunou-sempai...?"

"That means...," Kunou stammers, "That means that... the Pigtail
Girl is just Ranma who is turned female by cold water!  And all
this time I have been in love with Saotome Ranma! 

Ahaa. Ahaaahahahahahahahahahahaa... urk."

Without making a sound Kunou falls over backward in a slow
sweeping arc, just like a tree falling in the forest when Noone is
near.  He hits the ground already unconscious.  There is the smell
of burned hair in the air and some tendrils of smoke snake up from
his head.

Ranma-chan and Akane exchange glances and Ranma-chan kneels down
next to Kunou, patting his face to re-awaken him.

"Yo, Kunou... are you okay?"

Kunou sits up abruptly and sees Ranma-chan.

"Pigtail Girl!"  he shouts.  He frowns and touches his head
gingerly.  "There was... something... about you and Saotome..."

He frowns even more, then looks around.  "Where is that evil
sorceror, anyway?"  He looks back at Ranma-chan.  "At least you
are here, Pigtail Girl, my love!"

He tries to embrace her only to get his hands slapped painfully.
Ranma-chan stands up.

"No harm done, apparently."  She waves and smiles "Byye,
Kunou."

As they leave a confused Kunou behind Akane pokes her elbow in
Ranma-chan's ribs, saying "Don't *tease*!"
