Andy Skuse ranted:

I would really like to see alot more C&C make
it to the list. If the C&C contains information more suited to a private
reply then so be it. But if the discussion of fanfics on the list itself can
generate a larger readership and in turn help the author with his/her craft,
then why isn't it being done more often? Don't be shy folks! Post it to the
list :)

Well, I'm as guilty of private posting C+C from list-posts as anyone else.
I guess maybe we should start posting all C+C to the list unless the author
specifically requests private C+C. But, unless it's info of a personal
nature, how do you determine what sort of info is more suited to a private
reply?

My own rule of thumb -- if it's something you wouldn't be embarrassed by
saying in public, then post it on the list. This includes things like
harsh criticism -- if you wouldn't feel comfortable telling the author
that in front of a FanFic panel, then don't post it.

Good criticism and analysis on one person's story can help *everyone*
write better; that's part of the point of writers' groups and the Clarion
workshops, after all.

And yes, Panda, I just posted another C&C to the list. Enjoy. ;>
