This C&C deals with series specific information (i'm not a native speaker,
so I'll leave grammar, spelling and style alone), but regardless of the
amount of crap I say below this paragraph, I liked your story ^_^
I know the ritual of humanity requires three sanjiyan but because
Pai is the last, I assume that wu can be used as well, and if not,
pfffffft!
Three Sanjiyan are required and I've got a description of the ritual
already typed for the RPG (manga canon data, I've not watched the new OAV
series yet), so I can email a description of it to you if you'd like it.
BTW there is no guarantee Parvati IV/Pai is the last Sanjiyan. She
thought so, but Benares actions in the manga seem to imply it is not so.
Adjacent to us sat Benares, a shinto warding paper hung limply from
his forehead. The top of our triangular pyramid was formed by the
Pehaps you should use a more powerfull charm, or more than one warding paper.
Benares is too damn tough to be controlled by a mere shinto warding for that
long... at least in the manga. He's not just a Wu, but also a VERY powerful
archmage.
[There was a powerful monster in the manga that Mrs. Song Lii (Huang/Shoukai)
couldn't control with ONE 108 charm (it's a paper waring charm), so she
wrapped it completelly with said charms and the thing ended up like a mummy
^_^]
I remember Parvati IV telling me about the humanification process
a long time ago, that three immortals were needed, one who would
become human, one who would be sacrificed and the third receiving all
the powers of the other two. I prayed to Buhda that Pai was the one
In the manga, three *Sanjiyans* were needed (you are using Wus, so
ANYthing could happen ^_^). Two would be stripped from their powers,
turned into humans (and the Wus would instantly revert to their original
forms, human or not), and the third one would receive the other
Sanjiyan's power.
It was the Kaiyanwang (btw, Shiva (Bernares master) was not allways the
Kaiyanwang, he just happened to be the last one) who received the powers of
those who were turned into humans, so it looks like there IS a way to know
which of the three heads of the Ningen statue will give you power, and which
two will strip the power. It IS dependant of the position of the statue and
the three Sanjiyan (this is canon), and rotating it during the ritual *IS* a
Really Bad Thing (again, canon data).

exist if the Sanjiyan is destroyed, but not what happens if they are
humanified."
Well, unfortunatelly Shiva DOES know what happens when a Sanjiyan is
humanified, as he went thru the humanification process once (but it went
wild due to some, well, external disturbance. I won't say more to avoid
spoiling the manga). The Wu simply reverts to normal (whatever that might
be, as there are (were) non-human Wus), and the Sanjiyan becomes human.
Changing that to imply that it is not known what could happen if one Wu
received Sanjiyan power thru the Ningen statue might help IMHO.
Just as a side note: Parvati IV had forgotten about the humanification
process, and relearned it along with Yakumo in quite a weird way...
Yakumo actually witenessed the humanification process of Parvati III
(Pai's mother) and other Sanjiyan. I can't recall if Pai saw it.

Hmm... Benares receiving Sanjiyan powers? Uncharted area, for sure.
That should be impossible unless he is actually turned into a Sanjiyan
(Benares would look REALLY scary with three eyes <grin>) but hey, it's YOUR
story, right? And I seriously doubt Takada-san thought of it before you ^_^
I hope you'll continue to write it. A series with a ghost Yakumo would be
cool, but it looks like you only wanted do write a single story, ne?
