Good point.  Screw the plot, it's characters that make the story.  (Yes,
if you can include a good plot also, that's great, but don't sweat it.)

Um... Fanfics are a little different from normal stories, since the 
characters are usually the main reason for writing the fanfic. But 
regular SF/F -- SF in particular -- is filled with "idea" stories, where 
the primary reason for being is exploring a particular idea or plot 
twist... the characters take second place here, and if the idea/plot 
twist is good enough, I really don't care. And if you've got an anime 
universe or plot device that's interesting enough, I could see where this 
would work in a fanfic.

PS:  How would you cast Ranma regulars in "Whose *Line* Is
It Anyway?  Kuno would definitely be John Sessions.

Hm.  I think we could turn that over to RpM.  Look at what he did with The
Real World!

Uh-huh. Where's the next installment, RpM? Something about finding jobs,
