In the manga, this never happened.  At any rate, Kunou probably took the blow
for Akane, not Nabiki.  There's one episode in the manga where Nabiki and Kunou
momentarily fell in love that I know of.  After that, though, Nabiki was really
... how should I put it... irritated and annoyed for this.

Maybe they enjoy a love-hate relationship much like the one between Akane
and Ranma ^^
