Sounds a lot better than the newsreader I've got.  Which one are you using
now and where can I download it?

Sorry to say, but it's Eudora Pro...rather commercial

Eudora Light is available as freeware, from ftp.qualcomm.com.

Also, if you're using a Mac, you can get a 30-day demo of Claris Emailer, 
the program I'm using right now.

Both will download all of your e-mail, and let you read it at your 
leisure; Emailer and Eudora Pro also let you filter mail, so that your 
mailing list posts are grouped by list (I find this indispensable for the 
14 lists I'm on right now!).
