Surely someone has a "do's and don't's of dots, hyphens and other
oddities" that could be put on the remailer?
This is what I know about dots/elipses, dashes, and hyphens:
dots or elipses (...)
1. To indicate that something has been left out.
ex. used... to indicate... ^_^
The correct form for elipses is ". . .", but...
dash (--)
1. To indicate a sudden break in thought:
ex. "Hey, look, that bomb's gonna --"
2. "That is" or "namely" expressions:
ex. "He's going to marry Akane tomorrow -- if he lives until then."
ex. "There are a few other people in my Japanese class -- three, to be
exact -- who are also studying Spanish."
ex. "She wanted to reveal the identities of the secret mercenary
group -- the Knight Sabers -- for only one reason: revenge."
In case anyone gets confused:
hyphen (-)
1) Is used in some compound words:
ex. Nodoka will become Akane's mother-in-law.
2) In the days of typewriters, before wordprocessors and wordwrapping,
hyphens were also used to divide a word at the end of a line:
ex. The greatest fan-
fic author is... right.
The greatest f-
anfic author is... wrong.
The hyphen can only be placed between syllables.
I hope this helps.
