Do note that Nodoka stays around for the whole series and after part 3
took a larger part...and if I were ever to write a followup, I would
continue to use Nodoka as an active character.<<
Are you going to let her know what happened to Ranma? You'd better.
The slow finding out is half the fun of the story. The way the story is
unfolding I would expect Michiko to have found out by the end, she's
hanging around so much that I don't see it can be avoided. Her reaction
will be interesting ("Yay! Big Bro/Sis in one" or "You sneak Ranma" or
some less obvious variation...) and whether or not Nodoka finds out as
well intrigues me.
There's nothing wrong with alternate storylines...in fact, with Ranma
it's pretty hard to write something unique or interesting that DOES fit
into the storyline. :)
Is it? How many of you out there agree with this?
He exaggerates somewhat, but being "non-Takahashi" in some way makes life
much easier in that regard.
Actually, all I'm interested in are fanfics that takes advantage of
the last developments in the series.
Really limits you. And what were the later developments anyway?
Akari - a nice girl and good character, but the sumo pigs are just silly,
without being funny. Her relationship with Ryouga is good, particularly
in how Ryouga vacillates between her and Akane.
Konatsu - awful character. Tsubasa recycled in an even less appealling
format. Rates with Happosai as a bad idea (IMHO).
Nodoka meets Ranma - Had to happen and an important event. Be nice if
Takahashi had been less mediocre in her story about it. The only real
situational change.
Jusenkyo destroyed - Important event of long term relvance to Ranma.
Exactly how Ranma chooses to react to it might be an interesting topic,
in the manga he never really had time to think about it, or was never
shown thinking about it.
The almost marriage - Marks another incremental change to Ranma and
Akanes relationship, but in the end fails to cause a signifigant
alteration of the situation. Ranma & Akane still fight (maybe not as
badly...) and their other suitors still circle patiently.
Anyone out there planning such fics.
Probably, Takahashi's developments are usually picked up on by fanfic
writers after some delay. The problem is simply so few of them matter to
the central characters.
Nodoka meeting Ranma is the only big question truly resolved.
