[This is a repost from the Megami ML. Enjoy! It's in 5
parts, 'cause my mailer sucks.]

Having just breezed through almost all of the AMG fanfics,
I am now going to comment on them, 'cause it's what I do.

A few reviewer tips:
1) I am notoriously easy to please.
2) I hate unhappy endings.
3) I'm not that familiar with a lot of other anime.

These are also in no particular order. Feel free to argue
with me...

"Scenes from a Life" by Geoff Depew

Say you have a friend who likes AMG, but wants to see more.
"Where can I go," he says, "to find some original AMG stories?
Where can I go to get started?" Questions, questions, questions.
Now you could just direct them to std.com or Ryo's site, you
could loan them some doujinshi, you could say muffins, pumpkins,
wax paper, caledonia, mahogany and elbows...

*SLAP*

Sorry. Anyway, If they ask you where to start, this is where
to lead them. The closest thing to a perfect AMG fanfic.
Sweet, touching, sad at parts, happy ending, beautifully
characterized, stays to the spirit of the original...

If you haven't read this yet, I pity you.

"Bugs in MegaTokyoLand", "Kyaa! Megami-Sama!", "Surreal World"

Not familiar enough with the other series to judge. However, I
liked BiMTL despite my unfamiliarity. The other two were very
difficult to read if you didn't know the other anime...

"Oh My Devil Hunter" by Mark Babcock

Unlike the others above, this is very easy to understand even
if you're not familiar with Yohko. I wasn't. (Actually, the
only Anime at all that I know is AMG, MI, and Ranma. Sad, huh?)
This does an excellent "intro" job, however. The fight is well
done, and the plot is OK. The reason this is one of my favorites,
though, is the beautiful characterization of *everyone*. There
is not person one out of place in this. Megumi especially is well
written, since there are few fanfics that feature her. Very, very
well done.

That's enough for now. More tomorrow.
