And Ryan, I would love to second you on that idea, but it's very 
discouraging to a 'new' writer to put all that time and work into a 
piece and have it get little or no response. Hell, it's discouraging for 
'established' writers who just hope that folk are reading it.

-- On new writers not getting any commentary:  I wasn't aware of this,
since, as I've stated many times, I write far more than I read.  I must
say though, that IMHO those who do comment should take it upon
themselves to encourage new writers.  We need all the new blood we can
get.

I'm in this situation also, and appologize profusely. I do have all the 
Fic's that have come out and do plan on reading them, as soon as my Muse 
takes her claws out of my brain. So C&C will be forthcoming, just a 
while down the road. ^_^

Same here. I was absolutely floored when Haiku made the top 10. I got 
exactly 4 responses on that one when I put it to r.a.a.s.
 

I have to wonder what consitutes "new", since this list is constantly
growing and turning over.  Quantity is, of course, important when it
comes to recognition.  Someone like me, who puts out one sizable work
every six months or so is not as likely to be known as someone
currently pumping out a serial (especially a RANMA serial).  A friend
of mine visited #ffml and had trouble finding anyone who knew who I
was.  And I've only been in this business since 1991.  :-)  Oh,well...

That's where the whining comes in.  Also, the idea for the "five minute

preview" was an excellent one.

Five minutes. That's about what it would take for most of mine. It's 
kinda' hard to preview something that's pushing 350K. Might as just well 
read the bloody things. ^_-

O.K. I'll whine. Did anybody even look at Unfinished Promise?
