I was the one that said "If you don't want SPAM you're goin to have to make

And I really till don't see any difference between SkyKnights 400K+ BGZone 9
and 400 1K spamms spread over some 4-5 days...if someone's got a 500K
mailbox, what are they doing on a Mailing last this busy, really? No matter
WHAT is kept to this list, people with 500K Mailboxes are GOING to get them
overfilled, let's face it, most 'fics are rather large!
The difference is that BGZone is a fanfic, and 400 1K spams are electronic
junk mail. This is, after all, the Fanfic Mailing List, *not* the Spam
Mailing List.
BTW, your post sounds suspiciously like you are saying that people with
mailbox sizes less than 500K should not be allowed to join this ML. (I'm
doing fine with a 200K mailbox, although I have to download my mail 3-4
times a day) Are you going to specify what e-mail software is and isn't
allowable next?
*EEEEEK!* um...I really didn't mean it to sound that way...I just mean that
if someone has a 500K mailbox (or smaller, I really didn't think there WERE
200K mailboxes still...) they should expect to have it overfill sometime if
subscribed to a list as large as this (even if a fair amount of the 200+
people are lurkers or post once in a blue moon).
<snippage>
and I maintain that people with 500K
mailboxes *really* shouldn't be subscribed to places this busy in the first
place, unless they're actually writing somthing. If what they're writing
needs work, for a time THAT will be what is talked about th most on the
ML...
It will be talked about on the list if 1) it is seen from amid all the spam,
and 2) it's Ranma. I can't do a thing about the second, but the spam really
does need to be reduced.
Now the Ranma crud I *can* do without...I can see why Mr. MegaZone hates
Ranma so much...the Ranma dir on the archives is getting to be almost as
large as the Miscellaneous dir is...and to tell everyone the truth, many of
the Ranma 1/2 'fics I've read HAVEN'T been all that great...there's some,
like Chiseai(SP!), that BGC/Ranma crossover(the SERIOUS one...I think it's
called RanmaPunk), um...I can't remember the name of it...the one with
Ryouga and Ukyou getting together after Ranma and Akane confess their love
for one another...and the one that's set right before that...ARGH I wish I
could remember the name...Some others that escept my frail teenage
memory...that are really great, but the majority of 'em are of the like of
really pointless crossovers (Like Project Ranko, apologies to whoever wrote
that) and/or are so small it's almost pointless to compress them...but
worst of all are te ones that haven't been finished and simply end with
"Stay tuned for next chapter" and the like...I just wish that for a month
people could stop writing new Ranma stories (continue the ones already
started, by all means) and write somthing ELSE...
that's how it was 5 months ago and I don't see any reason why it should
be any different now.
You and I have been here about the same time, and I see the difference.
There really *is* more spam now than there was last fall. I'm regularly
deleting 75% of my mail, almost all sourced to this ML, without reading it
because of the non-fanfic content.
Heck, for about a half-month most of what we talked
about once upon a time was "What color should Sylvies suit be in BGZ?" (I
love what ya finally chose BTW SkyKnight!)
Yes, and I'd like to point out that since the question was related to a
fanfic being written, it wasn't spam. Arguing over Biles-dolls (or whatever
they are) *is* spam.
Exactly, but it was starting to GET to SPAMmish levels...and hey...sometimes
SPAM actually gives people good ideas! I remember one by Saf...Bubblegum
Warners...started out as a Spamfic, pure and simple, but she went with it
and turned out pretty good so far...hey...you remembeer when Foxx first
discovered the magic of Mailing lists? *THAT* was pointless SPAM...most of
this SPAM lately has somewhat of a point, and if "some people" (glances at
Robma, Panda, Kent, and all of the other nuts:) Would work with it, I think
we could get a pretty good origional fanfic out of it all...I just got an
E-mail from Kent magami saying that most of the ML's prolific spammers have
already taken the sigwars to private E-mail...imagine the ML WITHOUT this to
occupy them 'eh?
Actually, not that I think about
it, the only thing really different now than 5 months ago is that there
aren't that many "works in progress" really being posted, it's (mostly!)all
simply pre-edited, pre-RAAC-release stuff, so there really isn't much TO
talk about!
Perhaps because very few people seem to care to comment on "works in
progress" (unless they are Ranma - no *wonder* so many new people seem to
think this is a Ranma-only list :). These posts, I suspect, are getting
Like I said, I could do without the majority of the Ranma crud...
lost and tossed with the filler. Or the writers, like me, have given up.
Why bother when you know nobody's going to answer?
Could it be that they think that you're doing such a great job that they
don't need to tell you any little tiny thing that just MIGHT be wrong? :)

That I agree with...lookit some of the really ghastly 'fics on the RAAC
archive :)
