Subject: [FanFic] Overreactions, social lists, etc.

While I have not had time (i.e. to get caught up) to read all the
discussion on this, it seems to me the problem here is that we have
two lists trying to occupy the same space: a fanfic list, and a social
list. Now, social lists are fine things in my book (I've been on one
with around 20 people for 2-3 years, and have made fine friendships
with a bunch of people I've never met :-), but they're very different
beasts that targeted lists like this fanfic list is advertised to be.

My suggestion: create a social list for all the people who like to
"spam". While some spam will still end up on the fanfic list (and
should, since creative writing is about ideas, and there's a fine line
between much spam and brainstorming), the people who want to have
poker games, sig wars, etc. can do it in their own space, and we won't
continue to lose actual fanfic writers who don't have the time to wade
through a zillion messages, or torture people like me, who suffer from
RSI and who should make each keystroke count---that's right, folks, it
causes me actual pain and physical injury to hit the D key if I've had
to use the keyboard too much in the last few days---and I make my
living as a programmer....
