You've never seen Blackadder?  I refuse to believe that, the scene

This is Blackadder the Third (I think, I may have this wrong), the
episode is all about Blackadders expedition to the 'new world', and
he has to hire a ship, and ends up talking to this legless captain.

I think it was Balckadder the Second. First was the Medevial one, Second 
was in Elizabethan times (which this episode was), Third around Louis 
the Fourteenth, Fourth WWI.

Yes the legles sea captain was in the second series!

The third "Blackadder" was set in the english regency period with all the fops
and Beaus!

There was also a christmas special which featured the only good and generous
"Blackadder" who preformed a reverse Scrooge when the ghost of Christmas Future
showed his decendent would be the slave of the grand commander of the galactic
empire, Baldrick, unless he mended his ways and became a natural "Blackadder".
