Although I enjoyed this thread immensely, I must object to your predictions that
both Ukyou and Shampoo will put on weight after marriage!

1.  These two are dedicated life-long martial artists!  If anything they will 
stay in shape to help train their future kids and grandkids.  Shampoo's
entire Amazon culture is centred on strong female artists!  Ukyou has an unique
okononmiyaki-based martial arts to pass down!
2.  From the two mother figures in Ranma, Nodka and flashbacks of Mrs. Tendo,
are either of them even a bit plump?  Neither are martial artists and yet
both are
quite slender and fit in early middle age.
3.  People who run or work in restuarants usually do not have a good
appetite for
their own food.  From personal experience and well as others, I can tell you 
just because Ukyou and Shampoo work/run restuarants, they will not eat a lot
of the "goods".
4.  Stereotype!  You think marriage is easy?!  If anything, both gals have more
responsiblities and worries!  If they marry anyone from the male cast, they are
looking for a lifetime of trouble.  Especially Ranma, who seems to attract
the most
dangerous martial artists from all across Asia!
5.  Slight error:  Ukyou long ago (10 years)  lost the oknonmiyaki cart to
Genma.  
She now runs a permanent restuarant in town.  Since she is possibly the only
cook and 
has only one waitress (or waiter in Konatsu's case), she is working her
fingers to
the bone just to stay in business.
6.  In the Ranmaverse, girls usually have to be attacked/kidnapped first
before their
male friends will come to the rescue.  Both gals will have to be
self-reliant and 
not be so dependent on the guys.  Besides why should they?  They're are strong,
capable 20th century women!
7.  If anyone "runs to fat" after marriage, it would be the future husbands
of these
girls.  Both are excellent cooks and will feed their mates extremely well.
ie. Ranma
loves their cooking and eats like a horse ( or two) !

Sorry for the ranting tone but we fems are sick and tired of the stereotypical:
"Oh, she'll just slack-off after marriage and become a fat housewife" image!
