This version makes a _lot_ more sense. Good rewrite.
You need to change when the commander gave up being a mech
pilot. The Clans have only been fighting the Inner Sphere for about
seven years at this point. That's not enough time for the Ghost bears to
kill someone 20 years ago.
This assumes that Steel isn't from the Periphery, which have been
fighting the clans a bit earlier than that, perhaps extending it to
ten years.
The Batchall went well, except that I'm not sure escape counts as
being freed from bondsman status. I'd think the clans would just assume
you were a bondsman with no honor. Plus the terms of the fight are a
little odd. Why would Jade Falcons want Spheroid mechs? They'd want
something more (like the entire planet).
Literally depends on the clan and even the commander, I'd say.
However the Falcons ARE known for putting honor above motivations.
This led to the haven of Wolcott, for example.
Unless you pull something sneaky, there's no way eight Inner
Sphere mechs will be able to fight eight Omnimechs. I've beat two lances
with one star before.
Depends. This group and group of mechs I could probably agree with
your assessment. But with a C3 designed lances and reliance
(ironically) on low tech engines, victory switches back to an even
contest. Unfortunately, this wouldn't be the case for Ranma et al,
since they'd need to be coordinated and wor together. Something
they're notorious for not doing. And yes, I've done this. It's a bit
tricky, but conceivably, it means on IS lance could take out two stars
of Omnis.
