        Centuries ago, there were many schools who bore the name of 
Anything-Goes...  The most powerful of these schools was that of Shiroi...  
This is their story and the tragedy of jealosy and hunger for power.  The 
Shiroi school was widely admired by the others schools but one hated them for 
their power and prestege.  A powerful wu-jen master, the second son of the 
house Zodiak that originated from lands far to East, despised the noble house 
of Shiroi and those closest to it: Kuno, Sarugakure, Hibiki, Kuonji, Saotome, 
Tendo, Celestra, and his own Zodiak.  He hated his older brother, for the 
house and it's power would go to him.  So, under the view of night and 
darkness, he plotted with those others who sought power that was not their's 
to bring the great houses low and all who allied themselves with them and to 
insert themselves as masters of Anything-Goes...  
        The houses did not know their danger until the youngest daughter of 
Shiroi, Uki, traveled to the Temple of the Rain Dragon to train and prove her 
strength in the eyes of her father, who never merited that a woman could lead 
the house and the Schools.  She intended to show her father that she was as 
able as her three older brothers in the Art.  There she trained.  There she 
met others who belonged to the other schools of Anything-Goes: noble Musashi 
of House Kuno, loyal Yosuke of House Sarugakure, strong Masaki of House 
Hibiki, cheerful Miyoko of House Kuonji, brash Naoju of House Saotome, fiery 
Hiromi of House Tendo, shy Atsuko of House Celestra, and laconic Aries of 
House Zodiak.  They were her friends.  She saw them as a band of friends of 
the Schools of Anything-Goes Martial Arts, thus she dubbed tham as the 
Anything-Goes Martial Band.  Her father demanded that she return home, but 
she refused and knew that her father would not force her as long as she 
resided at the temple and her band wouldn't let her go if she did not wish 
it.  Her father was furious, but proud of his headstrong daughter as well.  
He did not press the matter any further.
        One day, a poor youth named Kajagua came to the temple to learn.  He 
was a simple boy who followed a majestic hawk, but Uki felt his noble heart 
under his filthy exterior.  After a long friendship, she gave him her heart... 
and unknowingly broke the heart of young Aries Zodiak, who accepted her choice 
because he loved her enough to do anything for her happiness, even give her up 
to the commoner.  That was when the dreams started.  Dreams of the dragon of 
darkness and shadows engulfing the land and bringing destruction and 
suffering.  She awoke screaming at night.  Aries started to watch over her in 
her sleep... as did Kajagua.  One night, she dreamt of the dark dragon again, 
but this time a bright star rose from the horizon and dispersed the shadows 
into the night.  That night, the wu-jen and his forces attacked the houses...  
        House Ozawa fell first as the ancestral home and lands were razed.  
House Zodiak was destroyed by the wu-jen as he declared himself as the new 
ruler of shadows, the Yar.  House Kajishima declared an alliance to the forces 
of the wu-jen and added to its ranks with its warriors and information.  House 
Nakamura fell to the dark forces, its only daughter and heir taken prisoner.  
House Celestra was obliverated as it defended its sovereign lord of House 
Shiroi.  Many houses were destroyed and ceased to exist.  In the final hours 
of the night, House Shiroi fell before the other houses could come to its aid, 
but the wu-jen knew his victory was incomplete for the last member of Shiroi 
lived and he knew where he could find her.
        The wu-jen attacked the temple.  He wanted Uki Shiroi, but the monks 
and her friends refused to surrender her.  The ten friends fought valiantly, 
but eventually were separate from each other in the confusion.  In the end, 
Naoju, Miyoko, Hiromi, and Aries escaped together, but waited for any others 
who would escape.  Uki and her young love fought to safety, but Uki was 
injured.  Kajagua left her hidden where she would be safe as he went back for 
the others.  He saw the wu-jen curse the four who did not escape.  Musashi was 
cursed with insanity and all those who came after him.  Yosuke and his 
descendants were cursed with servitude to the house of Kuno in all its 
insanity.  Masaki and her clan were cursed to be without direction and wander 
for all eternity.  Atsuko was cursed with confusion and fear.  In the morning 
hour, the others found Uki and listen to her prophecy of the rising star.  She 
also foretold that as long as there was a shadow there would be a Band.  
Naoju, Miyoko, and Hiromi went back to their homes and the Houses of Saotome, 
Tendo, and Kuonji seemed to disappear.  Aries waited with Uki for Kajagua, but 
he never came back to them.  Uki and Aries disappeared into legend.  Kajagua 
never found his friends and started to travel in search of them.  In his 
travels, he found another destiny..., but his path would cross that of the 
Band again.
        Bitter infighting inflamed the new Shadow clan, as the uprising group 
was called.  It is said that the Yar perished in those fights and another 
declared himself the Yar.  This cycle continued until it seemed that evil had 
consumed itself.  The curses could not be lifted, but as the generations past, 
the curses seemed to ease by small bits.  The House of Kuno became noble 
samurai with its Sarugakure ninja clan.  Hibiki's lived a good live, but it 
took forver to organize reunions and by then the members had wandered off 
again.  Celestra faded into obsurity.  There was no Zodiak clan, until 16 
years ago when a 14 year-old boy carried his 4 year-old sister into a tribe of 
Chinese amazons in search for food for his young sibling.  In his hand he 
carried the ancestral blade of his family, Soul Defender.  Ten years ago, a 
perverted master taught his school to two who's names are Tendo and Saotome a 
school called Anything-Goes.  Four years ago, a young woman with pure white 
hair calling herself Celestra fought across the countryside of China for a 
while and vanished like the wind.  A Band is forming...  And the Rising Star 
must be close at hand.
        But if the Band exists still, so a Yar from the Shadow clan must still 
live...
