Well, last night on the newly formed #ffml IRC channel, Firehawke asked
for some ideas for his fanfic, and rising to the challenge, Windlily and I
kicked out a couple paragraphs as we chatted. I made the comment that writing on
IRC at the spur of the moment was a real challenge, and Windlily and FH
seemed to agree. I then made a seemingly passive comment about an IRC
channel where writers could actually write in real-time, like a "round-robin"
fanfic but "on the fly". Well, Windlily got excited about the idea and so did
I, so we made plans to get on IRC again tonight and give it a go. But we'd also
like to extend the offer to any one else who'd like to just "read" or join
in the fun (Hey Orick! Here's a channel just for you!<g>). The subject matter of
the fanfic has been left up to whatever pops into any one's minds at the
time so you can bet it will be *very* unpredictable. Windlily and I agreed
on a time of 9pm EDT for tonight, but any one can create the channel
anytime. As far as a new channel name is concerned, #fflive is the best I
could come up with this early on a Sunday morning ;)
Hope to see ya there tonight and be prepared to think fast ;)
Server for #fflive is: anime.terratron.com
BTW: Due to a wonderful feature of mIRC, the IRC sessions for this channel
will be logged and saved. If things go especially well, and the authors all
agree, the resulting story/ies may be posted later to the FFML. If things go
REALLY well (i.e. good turnout), then it could become a weekly gathering.
And Lt_Dyson told me that if I could get the user count up he might be able
to get more bandwidth for his server (not that he needs more but it sounds
good anyway<g>).
Cya :)
