and she decides that ranma pays more attention to shampoo and ukyo
because they are "sensual."  and so, with the same ferocity that
akane takes ukyo on in the last manga i got, she takes to this
so she can stand a chance against shampoo. (all this about
ranma paying attention to shampoo and ukyo, as well as having to
keep up with shampoo, is all in her mind, of course.)

Maybe you have a couple of scenes with Akane's additude changeing.  Or 
show a glimpise of her when she is losing to Shampoo about how ugly she 
is and how she wished she was a sensual as Shampoo, so she could attract 
Ranma.  This could be the source of her constant attacks on Ranma.  
Remember in the first eps.  he comments about how he is better built then 
she is.  It has not gotten better in there relationships.
