(Courtiers' heads turn as the royal seneschal(sp?) approaches the thrones
of the king and queen of Spamalot.  He stops at the prescribed distance and
bows.)
   Seneschal:  Your Majesties, the Lord Mayor of the Free City of Spamitron
has arrived with his family and entourage.  He requests permission to pay
his respects.
   King Rob:  Permission granted, of course.  Show them in, Seneschal.
   Senechal:  At once, Your Majesty.
   (The seneschal leaves, and returns a few moments later.)
   Seneschal:  Presenting Lord Kent, Mayor of the Free City of Spamitron,
Last Knight of the Order of Krypton, and company.
   (Lord Kent approaches the thrones, escorting his wife, the Lady Diane.
Beside them walk two teenage girls, one with flowing red hair, the other
with shorter blonde hair.  Bringing up the rear are several members of Lord
Kent's entourage.  They stop and bow (or curtsey, depending on gender).)
   King Rob:  Welcome, Lord Kent.  It has been long since you last graced
our court.  At least ten years, I'd say.  What brings you so far from your
home this day?
   Lord Kent:  As you said, Your Majesty, it has been long since our last
meeting, and I wished to renew the ties between our governments.
   King Rob:  To say nothing of our old friendship, eh?
   Lord Kent (smiling):  That, too, of course.
   Queen Foxtrot:  We would speak with our old friends in private.  Clear
this court.
   (Soon the throne room is empty save for the royal couple and their
visitors (plus whoever lurks in the shadows, always on the watch for
assassins).  The king and queen rise from their thrones and greet their old
friends less formally.  King Rob turns to the red-haired girl accompanying
the Lord and Lady.)
   King Rob (kissing her hand):  You can only be the Lady A-ko, all grown
up.  (A-ko blushes)  I remember ten years ago you caused quite a stir around
here.
   Lord Kent (chuckles):  It's not often that the Captain of the Guard is
beaten at arm-wrestling by a seven-year-old girl.
   Q. Foxtrot (smiles):  We had the devil's own time convincing him not to
resign his commision and retire in shame over that.
   A-ko (blushes harder):  Er, sorry about that.
   Q. Foxtrot:  Don't worry about it.  The Captain might harbor some hard
feelings, but I believe he'll have the sense not to show it.
   K. Rob (turning to the blonde girl):  And who is this pretty one?
   L. Kent:  Your Majesties, I present to you Princess C-ko, of the distant
kingdom of Lepton. (C-ko curtsies)  Her mother's throne was recently usurped
by her aunt, and C-ko was forced to flee for her life, with the aid of her
loyal retainer, D.  (Kent gestures to one of the members of his entourage.)
They found their way to my city, and Diane and I granted them sanctuary.
   K. Rob:  We are most pleased to meet you, Princess.  You are welcome in
our court.
   P. C-ko:  Wow, thanks, Your Majesty!  I just love it here!  This place is
great!
   L. Kent (embarrassed):  Princess, please.
   P. C-ko:  Oops, sorry.
   L. Kent:  I'm afraid she hasn't quite mastered the princessly graces,
yet.  I was hoping that some exposure to royalty would help to serve as an
example to her.
   Q. Foxtrot:  An excellent idea.  Now, please, introduce us to the rest of
your people.
   L. Kent:  I would be happy to. (Indicates a young woman dressed in
polished plate armor with a purple tabard.)  This is B-ko, Captain of the
Spamitron Guard and a powerful warrior/mage. (B-ko bows stiffly.)  These are
Captain B-ko's top lieutenants:  Asa, Ine, Ume and Mari.  D you have already
met.  And this is our personal advisor, Ayumi.
   (Each person bows or curtsies as she is introduced.  They then fade into
the background as the main characters engage in small talk.)
