Next Scene: Act 2 Scene 3
Setting: The Guest House
Sir Musica: (Crouching in a nearby bush) Ah! The fools think they can >>
escape by horseback do they? Let's see what the king has to say about
this! (She sets off for the castle proper).
Ten minutes later . . .
Sir Musica: Your majesty! <pant> They're escaping <pant> as we
speak!
King Rob: The queen and the prince? Impossible! She would never leave
Spamalot!
Sir Musica: It's true <pant> I saw with mine <pant> own eyes! They
<pant> are making their way to <pant> the stables at this very >> moment!
<pant> >> OXYGEN TANK SOMEBODY??? <clunk>
King Rob: Can it be true? My queen taking flight from our beloved
Spamalot? I must see for myself! GUARDS! (Guards enter) Take me to >> the
royal stable at once!
While all of this is going on, no one noticed a fairly good-sized shadow move
across the castle grounds. Of course, in the moonlight, it tends to be
hard to
spot a shadow anyway.
If anyone bothered to look up, they would have spotted an airship that looks
like it's been borrowed from Laputa, as well as a smaller, sleeker form
emerge from it, descending on the fleeing duo as they make their way to the
stables.

Before he could let fly, the Kamome finally reaches an altitude to allow for
the escape of the royal pair. Captain Peter L. Ward's head sticks out of
the >cockpit and yells, "Your Majesty! Quick! Get on and cover your ears!"

Prince Panda Launcelot turns to help Queen Furryous up the rope ladder.
The Queen shakes her head and looks at The Prince with tears in her eyes.
Queen Furryous: I'm sorry my Knight. I cannot go with you. Spamalot needs me
and your country needs you. War is now inevitable. Leave now and let us
forget that we ever knew each other.
Prince Panda: My Queen! You cannot mean that! Our love means more to me than
my country! You must come with me, or you will be killed! That much is
assured! Please, I beg of you!
Queen Furryous: (Spots King Rob on horseback approaching) Forgive me my
knight. I must go now. One last kiss before we part, and then let the moon
be our consoling guide when we weep on the morrow.
(The Prince stares unbelievingly, but slowly kneels before the queen and
takes her hand in his. Staring hard at her feet for a moment, the prince rises
swiftly and embraces the queen. They kiss for a brief moment, the shouts of
the guards in the distance interrupting them. The prince releases the queen
and then begins to ascend the ladder. The airship begins to rise . . .
Prince Panda: Farewell my queen. I shall look upon the moon every night from
now on, and remember thee as I see thee now. Farewell.
The Queen, still trembling from their kiss, raises her hand weakly to wave,
but cannot. The airship rises further and further away, as the sound of
pounding hooves reaches her ears.
King Rob: My Queen! The knave has accosted you! Art thou alright?
Queen Furryous: Yes. I'm well. But let us prepare. Spamalot will soon be
under attack by the forces from the east, and we must be ready.
King Rob: My lady! It shall be done! (Motions a guard to his side and issues
a command to ready the troops for war. The guard rides back to the castle)
My dear Queen. Let me help you back to the castle. We have much to discuss.
Queen Furryous: Thank-you, but no. I will walk these few yards alone. My
mind needs a little fresh night air I think.
King Rob: (Looks around as if to spot any more trouble-makers) Very well
then my queen. I shall see thee in thy chambers whenst thou arrives.
Queen Furryous: (Smiles weakly) Thank-you m'lord.
(The king and his guards ride off back to the castle. The queen walks back
solemnly to the castle grounds. Instead of heading for the entrance, she
makes a detour and heads for the royal garden.)
Queen Furryous: (At the garden gate. Turns and looks up at the moon as it
dips low on the horizon, and the sun's first rays peek out) My dear knight.
What will become of us now? Will I ever set eyes on thee again? How can I
look at my own castle and king the same way that I once did? (Opens the
gate and steps quietly over to the marble bench next to the bubbling fountain)
Love- what strange game you play this night. Why do you set yourself between
two hearts like a thick cord, only to be broken by the hands of fate?
Take from me this silly tremble I feel, and replace it with steely nerves,
for on this night I dissolve my love, and exude it unto the cleansing dawn.
Let this
love that I have known be nothing more than a faint memory, to soften and
grow warm as the years pass us by. Good-bye sweet knight. Forgive me.
The End
