Since people called Rich, Will, Bill, Zack, Bart, and such are usually 
actually named Richard, William, etc., wedding invitations (which are 
generally rather formal) have the person's whole name printed on them.
The wording isn't necessarily flowery (though I've seen some that were); 
just formal and non-flippant.
