Maybe. What I'm thinking of is telling the story of the Grail Quest with
Sailor Mercury drawn into the quest, as she hopes it will have the power
to help her get home...along the way she'll realize what is going to
happen...and try to figure out what she can do to avert the tragedy she
knows may be coming...

Hmmm.... as I recall my Arthurian legends, the Grail quest was launched
when Camelot was at it's height and was one of the main things that
weakened it before Lancelot was blinded by love and tore it apart.

Yes. Roughly one can divide the Arthurian saga into
Phase 1: Prologue--Arthur's Birth to the Drawing of the Sword from the
Stone

Phase 2: Consolidation--Arthur fights a series of wars to consolidate
his realm, marries Guenevere and the seeds of future tragedies are laid:
Birth of Mordred, The Murder of the Innocents, Blood feud between the
Lothians(Gawaine's Family) and Norgales (Pellinore's family), etc. This
phase roughly ends when Arthur conquers Rome and becomes Emperor (for
what that's worth :))

Phase 3: Glory--The period of high adventure. Lancelot, Tristam,
Lamorak, Palomides, Sagramor, Dodinas, the Lothians, and all the other
knights have their greatest adventures. This phase ends with the
Beginning of the Grail Quest.

Phase 4: Decline and Fall--After the Grail Quest, many of the best
knights are dead or gone. Lancelot and Guenevere get sloppy in their
love affair, they are discovered, and everything goes to hell in a
handbasket. Finally ends with Arthur's death at Camlann.

This story will be set around the Grail Quest, which is the transition
from Phase 3 to 4.

To avert the tragedy would probably require Sailor Mercury to hang around
and influence things after the quest, either that or for her to find a
way back afterwards. Would depend a lot on how close you stuck to the
legends, and on how much Sailor Mercury can remember about them.

Yeps. We shall see what we shall see...
