I was just watching Maison Ikkoku episode 15 (the one where Yusaku[Godai]
and Kyoko do the puppet show]. I noticed that when Kyoko goes into the
planetarium, standing behind her are Lum and Ran from UY!! This scene of
Ran and Lum was taken from The Return of Lum (Viz) comin Part 2 #4
(I don't know if they animated this particular story, and if they did I
haven't seen it yet). Also in on of the Maison Ikkoku comics (don't
remember which one) Yusaku and Kyoko go on this date (arranged by Y's
grandmother) and they stop at a toy store where there are the "fish-people"
toys from UY and Lum dolls, etc. Are there any other instances like this
in Taskahashi's series?

I've noticed a lot of "cross-fertilization" between Takahashi series, but I
can't quote any specific instances right now. I know it happens a lot in
the crowd scenes in UY.

I think this happens a lot in all "comic" anime/manga, not necessarily just
Takahashi stuff. For example, in Project A-ko 4 (or is it 3? The one where
C-ko goes to the movies), C-ko sees young Lum and young Ran walking down the
street together. And she goes to see an alternate-universe version of the
KOR movie. And in one of the UY episodes (don't remember which one, or
whether TV or OAV), the entire cast of Macross shows up in the background.

<snip>
OH btw, the first
appearence of Takahasi's "fish-people" from UY was in "Those Selfish Aliens"
(No this is not the same as UY, it was a prototype, i.e. her first work),
and this is currently being published in Vol. 1 #7 of MangaVision.

The Kappa are cute. I understand that they're her "signature" characters.
