You're somewhat wrong about anime being shown on American TV.  Sailor
Moon is on sometime in the morning around 8:00 PST after most
college and high school anime fans are at school.  Then you have the
youma shows that are on around 3:30 in the afternoon (I'm talking
Powdered Rangers and Masked Rider and VR troopers).  Everything
else is American shows.  The sci/fi channel (cable) has an anime movie
that they show ever Saturday, and the last time I tuned in, they showed
Akira full length two Saturdays in a row.  And then, there's the Cartoon 
Network that shows *no* anime at all.
