Well, if we did decide to hold an Australian *Anime* specific con - how

<smile> I think Kergma just volunteered...
Hey... - I'll help too... (never let it be said that I didn't offer!!)
One of the problems is advertising. As far as I know in America, the
organisers of cons tend to have more money, and can do mass-media
advertising. Until DarkWind dragged me into this, I had seen bugger all
with Australian Anime. Curiously enough, I had seen ads for American
cons.
I am part of an anime club in Brisbane... How come we haven't seen you
there? It's been a going concern for the last 7 years (roughly).
This would be Aubry's club??? - Kergma doesn't really know much about
it.. I do - but you wouldn't have seen me there either... (I'm more
interested in new stuff.. rather than re-watching old anime over and
over...)
Neo's...er... indisposed at the moment, so I'll flame you instead:
Channel 10 showed "Teknoman" just recently.
Channel 7 showed "Robotech" less than a year ago.
"Astroboy" and "G-Force/Battle Of The Planets" are currently showing on
Cable.
That's great if you've got cable (to all you guys in the US.. cable is
only a rather new thing here... I know that here in Brisbane it's only
really become available in the last six months or so..)
There are shows out there... you just got to look for them.
Ahh.. but how many people actually *know* that they are anime??? (I'm
talking regular 'Joe on the street' here...) - none of them... *I* didn't
know that G-Force/Battle of the Planets was anime till a couple of years
ago...
There are also *many* problems in setting up a Con - for those who don't
realise it, Australia is the size of the contentintal United States - but
with the population about the same size as New York (actually I'm not
sure that it's that close any more... anyone know the population of New
York???). That makes it rather difficult to get enough people to make a
convention sucessful...
If anyone has suggestions about how to overcome these problems.. I'd like
to hear them...

Spock: Sir, what these people are saying is logical; If we use up a
finite resource, logic dictates that eventually all
resources will be exhausted and the resulting calamity
will expunge all life forms...
Kirk: Meaning???
Spock: We're rooted....
