there's no place for them in a story like that?!
Easy. Read Stackpole's novels. They are the definitive Battletech
stories, and there are no lemon scenes whatsoever.
Definitive does not necessarily mean good... Stackpole's prose is
readable and he handles the grand sweep of things nicely, but his
characterisations are 2-dimensional and his idea of tatics and strategy is
laughable, even by Battletech standards.
For me the books work best when I'm thinking of them as myths and legends
that someone is retelling.
Greetings once again White-Robed Mathematician. I take it from this
message that my brother sent out an e-mail concerning his suggestion to
include lemon scenes in my "Ranma/Mechwarrior" story (for which he will pay).
That and a general request for lemon stories.
I haven't read any of Stackpole's novels yet. However, I have read:
"The Way of the Clans" "Bloodname" "The Falcon Guard" "Blood of Heroes"
"DRT" and "Lethal Heritage" (All of which I recommend if you haven't read
them. Especially the first three.) And you are correct, there are no lemon
scenes.
The "Warrior Trilogy", the "Blood of Kerensky" trilogy, "Assumption of
Risk" and "Bred for War" are the Stackpole novels that outline the broad
sweep of the inner spheres history for 50 odd years. All the other
Battletech novels are pretty much side stories to these grand history novels.
The books by Robert Charette, "Wolves on the Border" and "Heir to the
Dragon" are the best Battletech books (IMHO), followed by the original 3
books on the Grey Death Legion - they have good portrayals of what the
Battletech univers was supposed to be before FA$A got carried away, you
just have to try not to laugh too much when Keith describes his battle
scenes (though they do show that he has played the game ^_- ).
Just to restate myself, this story will contain _no_ lemon scenes,
nor will any other story that I write.
Your point is noted ;-)
