No thanks to the REALLY magical dagger and sword wielded by said
assassin. Now, where'd the character sheet go? Actually, Drizzt was a
MUCH better fighter than the assassin. But, his +4 defender (twinkle) wasn't
as magical as the assassin's dagger and sword.
What were those things? Do you have the stats on
those weapons? What are the limitations on the defender? I
would have thought that +4 is a hell of a bonus!
Oh, +4 defender, in AD&D 2nd ed. rules lets you use up to 3 of the
+ to attack bonuses to add to your AC. (e.g. if you use 2 bonuses, the
sword becomes +2, and you get a +2 to your AC) The wielder can choose
each round. Now, I can't remember what the fire-eater was, though it was
a nasty Ice Brand of some type. The dagger used by Entreti was a +3 or +4
dagger of venom, and his sword was equally nasty.
Boh in the heritage trillogy. But, the water is nasty. VERY nasty. But,
it's not a "druid sleep lake", in that the druids don't go there to
perform the "druid sleep". Rather, it's a gateway to the realm of the
shades, similar to the Grimpond's lake in Wishsong of Shannara.
Well, yeah, but they do go there when they sleep.
They might not actually *be* in the lake, but you get the
idea ;)
Where the heck does it say that? I've read every book twice (except
for talisman, once there) or more, and I can't find anything which even
remotly seems to imply that they go there to perform the druid sleep.
Especially when it is important to remember that the druid sleep was a
carry-over from the old world of technology. The Hadeshorn was probably
not known then. (Oh, BTW, do you think the island the elves retreat to
might be Hawaii? It's just a theory of mine.)
