I don't know much about the Forgotten Realms, but I wouldn't be
surprised if Drizzt was the best swordsman in any of the books.
Neither would I. About the only guy that gave him
any trouble, and it was a hell of a lot of trouble, was that
assasin guy who wore a face-changing mask. *GOOD* fight.
No thanks to the REALLY magical dagger and sword wielded by said
assassin. Now, where'd the character sheet go? Actually, Drizzt was a
MUCH better fighter than the assassin. But, his +4 defender (twinkle) wasn't
as magical as the assassin's dagger and sword.
This isn't anime related, but that statement just made me wonder:
Drizzt vs. Garet Jax
Hmmm... probably. As I remember it, Garet Jax just
went wandering around looking for a good challenge, nobody
could stand up to him. I'm sure he'd give Drizzt a call if
he knew his number :)
Oh, but of course. :)
Garet Jax is the weapons master from Wishsong of Shannara. I don't
know exactly how powerful he is, except that both he and Allanon were
killed by the same sort of creature. And both he and Allanon killed the
creature while they were fighting it. And, if anyone knows how nasty
Allanon is, then, well, that says something about Garet Jax.
Ahh, Allanon. Now *there* is a badass mage. Druid.
Whatever. He's so tough no even death kept him back. I
wonder how the black water in the druid sleep lake could be
classified? As an artifact? Some wierd natural force? The
mind boggles, that thing is so damn powerful.
Technically, by AD&D terms, Allanon is a mage. The term "Druid" is
what they called themselves, probably after the Celtic druids, hidden
leaders of the people. As to "death" not stopping him, he actually
willingly became a shade, so that he could find his successor in Walker
Boh in the heritage trillogy. But, the water is nasty. VERY nasty. But,
it's not a "druid sleep lake", in that the druids don't go there to
perform the "druid sleep". Rather, it's a gateway to the realm of the
shades, similar to the Grimpond's lake in Wishsong of Shannara.
On a side note, I built a Weapons Master and Druid of Shannara
class for AD&D. Had to break the rules, or NO ONE could advance in
either class (I think the Druid class required 5k XP *AFTER* I changed
the rules for 2nd level. The Weapons Master was 3k).
