Semi-colons:
Used to seperate independant clauses...basically combining two sentences
into one --
He turned and smiled at her; she smiled back at him.
---Commas are used for lists, dependant clauses and with conjunctions.
He gave her three giant wombats, a toad, and a bucket of mold.
First of all, he was rather rude, and secondly, he wasn't very good with
women.
She sighed, because she knew he cared, even though he wasn't very bright.
