I don't get it . . . SCA doesn't seem like a very creative Acronym to me.

You're not the only one.  I've never been out of the states - not even to 
Canada or Mexico even though I've lived pretty close to both borders 
before. *sigh*

I take it you haven't visited the West Kingdom then.  As long as it 
_looks_ period, you can get away with just about anything.  I mean some 
people have _plastic armor_!  It looks period from a distance, I guess.
