  Ummm...the Society for Creative Anachronism is a worldwide organization 
 based in Milpetas, California. The SCA aims to recreate the fun aspects 
of medieval life and culture. For example, lots of people build real 
armour based on historical designs, and learn how to beat the stuffing 
out of each other with swords made of rattan(it's kindof like bamboo). 
Other people get into period cooking, clothing, calligraphy, dancing,  
whatever. If they did it in the Middle Ages, chances are someone in the 
SCA does it as well. Naturally, that excludes things like actually 
killing people, treating women like dirt, eating dirt...you get the idea. 
People in the SCA come up with a persona to enact, so in some respects 
it's like being in a live-action role-playing group. Events are held all 
over the country, and sometimes in foreign countries, too. Several wars 
take place throughout the year. There's lots more to 
tell, but it would take a small book, so unless you want me to e-mail you 
privatly with more info, I'll leave it here.
