Andy Skuse verbalized:
Hi folks,
I just heard from a friend today that there is a VERY nasty virus that has
been unleashed and it shows up in the form of an email entitled "GOOD TIMES"
or something to that effect. If you see this post show up in your In Box,
delete it IMMEDIATELY! Do not read it! My friend told me that it will create
some kind of endless loop in your hard drive and wipe EVERYTHING out! If
your hard drive starts acting up, I was told that you should Reset the
computer pronto. That's the scoop. Keep yer eyes open!
Panda: [Scratches his head] Now where's that Orbital Particle Beam remote
control? Maybe I can zap this virus thingy from space!
Virgo: [Runs out the door . . . ] I'm outta here!
Panda
NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!
[Grabs Panda by the neck and proceedes to 'chestnut fist' him black and
blue]
FOR THE LAST TIME::::
THIS IS A JOKE!!!!
There is no such thing as a virus that can be spread by e-mail. Period.
Viruses work with binaries. A mail message is only text. Even MIME is just
text until decoded. Even when MIME is decoded - it's still harmless, you
can't execute commands from MIME (I think - not sure 100%)
However - there is a legit virus that works through macros in MS-Word (I
have the specs from F-prot - to prove this - not to mention, I've had to
deal with it)
BUT GOOD TIMES HAS BEEN A JOKE FOR OVER TWO YEARS!!! I keep having to
explain this to my users at my computer center at least every other month.
Please, believe me on this. Stoned is a real virus, Michellangelo was a
real virus, BUT NOT GOOD TIMES!!!
Sorry about the abuse, Panda, I'm just real sick of this damn thing going
around. Here's some Neosporin.
