Unfortunately, quantity does seem to be more important in terms of 
recognition for fanfic writers.
No No No No No No No.  I wish ^_^.

Rating my own works, there are about 4 or 5 shorts I think are more 
interesting than my Ranma/Nabiki series, which currently clocks in at 
about, I dunnow...75 typed pages or so.  I get more response per chapter 
than I have on the shorts combined.  And there's other forms of 
recognition which the series gets and the shorts don't.
