    The Poker Game part 2

"Time to go to bed." A voice murmured from the kitchen.
The blue glare from the computer screen in the dinning room casted
a blue haze over Robert Bentley's face as he typed away on his little
story. His blinked for a moment, his eyes turned away from the screen
in front of his towards his mother who was turning off the kitchen
lights. She locked the front door and padded across the kitchen floor
towards the living room. "See you in the morning," she yawned.
"I'll be up in a sec," he replied and finished off the sentence. He
rubbed his fingers together for warmth and didn't even look up at what
the thermastat was turned to. He wagered sixty since he was already
freezing. He was the one waring the t-shirt and jeans in the middle of
the winter. Ware warmer clothes my ass, he thought. He leaned back, to
the left in the chair and listened while his mother went upstairs. He
frowned and looked into the living room, or at least what he could see
of the living room. The only light was on little hutch next to his
father comfy chair. He nodded inwardly, he's out with Cornwell and co.
His brother had the night off and was driving around town somewhere.
Bentley put his elbows on the computer desk, his head into the
palms of his hands and thought. "So where does she go from here," he
murmured. To earth, he thought. He sighed, not yet. Too soon, he
thought, not until she finds out what's in storage. He slowly bagan
typing up a scene involving her and some of her friends when something
caught his eye. He continued to type, his hazel eyes darted away from
the screen and watched quietly. He started the next paragraph, his
fingers missed a few keys, backspace backspace backspace. He blinked a
few times and shook his head. He eyed the picture of her on the
computer desk in front of him and smirked. "Your something I wouldn't
like to meet in a dark alley." He muttered.
    "I am?"
His finger hit one key and his eyes looked up at the sound of the
voice. Something was staring at him, just inside the hallway between
the living room and the dining room. The light in the living room had
been turned off, he didn't even notice it. The something was keeping
out range of the light in the dining room. Golden eyes smiled back at
him. He swallowed hard. "Who.."
A white toothed smile formed just below the eyes. The eyes and the
smile were just above the thermostat. Something moved below them, a
tail? Shorter then me, he thought and looked straight at the light in
front of the something. A figure formed while he stared at the light
and not it. A cat like figure, just like the one on....
"You don't scare easily," a purr came from the shadows.
"How did you get here?" He didn't get up, he didn't need too.
"Easy, through your window, you left it locked. You really should
clean that place up. I nearly broke my neck." The figure leaned a
little forward, placed a hand on the long necked white lamp in front of
her for support as she leaned. Sapphire smiled at him and took a look
at the screen. "What you writing?"
"What do you think?" Bentley asked, his left pinky finger hovered
over the ESC key. He was still used to people not looking at his work
and still too used to Appleworks on the Apple IIGS that collected
cobwebbs on his desk in his room.
Sapphire hesitated a guess. "My story?" Her eyes lit up at that
idea.
    "Forbidden Ops, yes."
"Lemme see...." she has entered the room completely now and at that
point Bentley's right hand went over to the mouse and minimized the
story. She sighed. "Your no fun you know that."
Bentley smiled. "Something you wanted to asked me?"
Sapphire took a seat and nodded. "Was wondering if you could deal
without me for a few hours, there's another poker game coming up. Some
friends and I wanted to get together."
Bentley nodded to her surprise. "I didn't create you, you know. You
did that yourself. Although my drawings are much cruder then what you
look like in real life. You are you own person."
"You keep saying that," she had one of his drawings in her paws
already. He reached out to snatch it away, her eyes met his and his
hand retreated. Her whiskers twitched while she looked at it. "Just
need some help on chest area."
Bentley dipped his head and groaned slightly. "It's not at bad as
Chabot's drawings o.k."
    "That was compliment."
    "I know."
    "Uh huh."
"So who's going to the game?" He got up and went into the kitchen
to grab a drink of water.
"A few people. Why?" Sapphire watched him chug down an entire glass
and waited for him to turn around. "You plan on tailing me?"
    "Nope."
    "Why's that?"
Because your a figment of my imagination, well some of you anyway
he thought. "I've got a 8 o'clock class tomarrow," he replied instead.
"You really need to get a life, you know that?"
"You sound like my mom," he sat back down and looked her over.
"Didn't know you were into spandex."
"This is what I usualy hit the sack in, you like?" She stood up and
turned all the way around and sat back down again.
"Thought you went to bed nakid." He smirked and leaned back so he
couldn't get hit.
"You think I would show up here, nakid?" She mimiced perfectly. She
bapped his playfully as his eyes wondered and an imaged formed in his
mind. "Stop that, save that for later."
"Ah yes, the scene between you and..." he voiced trailed off and
laughed.
    "Who?"
"I thought you had a poker game to go to, hrmmm?"
    "Write faster."
"Pass all my classes for me."
Sapphire got up from her seat and laughed. "You need to do that all
by yourself. Like what you did with the beard by the way." She looked
at the picture he had done of her. He nodded and she placed it gently
into her duffle bag.
Bentley rubbed his red curly beard smiled. "Thanks. Win some for
me, eh?"
"Don't wait up," she replied and stepped back into the shadows and
was gone.
Bentley blinked. He looked up at the screen, he saved the story and
waited. It saved and he proceeded to shut down the computer. He donned
his black leather jacket from the hall closet and walked out the front
door. He stepped off the porch and into the night air. He took a deep
breath and yawned. He walked in between 89 Tarus and the 89 Crystler
and walked into the middle of the circle. The light attached to the
telephone post between his house and neighboors house hummed quietly
while the world around him slept, or at least the East Coast. He looked
up at the stars and looked towards Seco or at least where it would be
in fourty-two years.
"You know the one thing I hate being stranded in the past, people
from the future drop in on you without giving any warning," he watched
the crecent moon rotate on it's axis. "She's getting better at it,
she's learning too much from you."
"I taught her nothing," a breather hissed from behind him, probably
on one of the cars or even on top of telephone post.
Bentley snorted. "What is this out of character, she comes and asks
me if it's o.k. to go to a poker game?"
"It usually a good sign of character if one's student asks a
teacher for permission to go somewhere."
"I'm not her teacher." Bentley muttered.
    "You're sure around that?"
Bentley turned and looked. She was gone too. He sighed and looked
once more at the stars. "I'm really starting to hate this job."

    Fin.

Well the ending was wierd but hey, it's 11pm at night you expect me
to come up with a swish bang ending?

Sapphire: (munching on popcorn) What's this teacher stuff anyway?
Captain: You'll ruin it, let it play out.
Brett: So he's typing away on the computer in the past, he stuck
there and needs to get back? *rustling of paper* When does this happen?
Bentley: Hey quiet down back there, some people are trying to read!
Aaron: Well this little ditty made no sense at all.
Zodiak, dressed it a 3 piece suit: *Ahem.* We'd like to comment on
how this writer is directly infringing on something our writer has
already made a fad. Unless said writer ceases immediatly we will have
to sue the livin *censored* out of ya.
    Allegra: You tell'em!
Rob: Not nice to copy other peoples stuff Bents.
Bentley: Sowwies. O.k. fine, everybody out of the movie theater out
out get out!
Virgo: Aaron was right this spam made no sense at all.
Bentley: Well it was either that or a take a space gopher hostage
for some C+C. Which was nicely done by the way.
    Rob: Thank you.
Bentley: I need to kill some time before I hit the sack. Which I
should be in now.
    Sapphire: Then go to sleep.
    Bentley: Yes ma'am. Goodnight everybody.
