It wasn't just coincidence.  Dark Horse/Studio Proteus explicitly said in their 

translation that Skuld need cold water.  I don't know if this was an error on 
their part, or if Fujishima wound up contradicting himself in chapters 50 and 
54 by showing Skuld teleporting through ocean water and cooler bath water, 
respectively.<<

Then DH/SP got it wrong. I just checked my volume 5. Skuld says she can only travel through water. Nothing there says it has to be hot. 

I thought those were cherry blossom petals there... (shrug)

I dunno, I had trouble deciding whether the word was plum or cherry in english.
