I missed that thread.  I just needed a reason to keep Ranma from becoming a 
great deal  more skilled than everyone around him and thought it might be fun 
to have those new characters involved.

I don't know which came first and it doesn't matter to me, anyway.  I just 
write the things, I don't time them.
