Hmmm...I was reading manga #34 chapter 2 over dinner and I noticed Akane
give Ranma give a Valentine's day present, when throughout the chapter
they made it clear you gave Valentine's Day presents to your sweetie.
However, Ranma does have much more overt examples. Perhaps the reason that
anime and fanfics seem to be placing the fault for their failures as a
couple on Ranma is that culturally, males are expected to initiate
relationships. Why they always get along afterwards? It's a
typical storytelling convention that if a couple is in love they have
initial complications and then live happily ever after. I guess their
refusal to admit love for each other is seen as THE initial complication,
they've shown that they're in love with each other, so naturally living
happily ever after is the next step.
