Nothing unusual there. Some files have always had a year, while others have
not.
Wrong. It's UNIX. It uses a date that provides a referent to the actual
date. It will drop time and include year when a file is old enough.
But, it has not forgotten the time the file was created, and could tell
you if you knew how to ask.
