In one of the Urusei Yatsura OAVs, Ataru ran into a girl and he
realized that he just wasn't attracted to her, even though she was
rather cute.  His natural instincts just told him not to go for it.

As it turns out, she was a he.

As I just said, J. Biles did this scene, and that's exactly what 
happened.  

My memory may be foggy, but I think in that fanfic Ataru
didn't hesitate to chase after Ranma-chan at all, that is,
until he found out the he/she thing.

I'm just thinking that maybe he'd hesitate before chasing
after Ranma-chan, "sensing" that something is not quite right.

But that's just my guess...  I mean, Happosai is an even bigger
lecher than Ataru and he chased after Ranma-chan w/o hesitation,
so I could be wrong...
