Ok, It's not a fanfic but I got a few complaints that my reviews and tip
articles for the local users group news letter were a bit too dry and tech.
The suggested a bit of humor in them so here is the start of my blabbering on
Windows 95........

                           MicroSoft Strikes Back

It is a time of great
                       turmoil in the computer world.
After successfully learing how to configure
every last bit of the first 640K as free memory
and getting all software updated and compatiable with
Windows the evil MicroSoft empire lead by Darth Gates, Dark
Lord of Software, unleashed his most feared weapon to date: Windows
 95. But even now the brave Computer Geek Alliance (CGA) is fighting to save
existing software and make more memory available again.....

In a not so hidden, well kept geek apartment (ok, so it looks
like a dark cave with half a dozen computers and an internet
connection), a not so secret meeting is taking place of the
CGA after installing Windows 95 on a couple of systems. The
topic, "How to get back some free memory" and "What about all
this stuff that will not work under Windows". Present are Chuck
 P. Underson (CPU), Ron A. Mitchel (RAM), and Vern G. Anderson
 (VGA).

"RAM, what are we going to do!?!", cried VGA, "Windows 95 still has a 640K
limit and now we are still low on base memory"

 "I don't know," replied RAM.

"But Windows 95 promised to fix all our memory problems, but, DOOM runs
worse under 95 then it did under 3.11 and memory is even more hosed"

"Didn't you guys remove all your real mode drivers for the stuff
that Windows provides protected mode drivers?" quaried CPU from
his Linux box, where he was browsing rec.arts.anime.

"No," came the replied in unision.

"Well, you can do that, as they just duplicate the same
functions and do not use any base memory. As long as you have
WIN95 running, all programs can access them, even dos programs
running under WIN95," informed CPU as he added another "What if
Ranma Got..." thread to his kill file.

"It's all covered in the Windows 95 Resource Guide I picked up
at USA Computers. Give them a call at 939-5630 to get a copy,"
suggested CPU as he jumped to rec.arts.anime.stores to see what
 new things have been written.

"Isn't that the book Info World said was confusing and poorly
written," mumbled VGA to RAM out of the corner of his mouth.

"It's a great book with lots of information packed in it," CPU continued to
ramble on as he added things to the list of stories to get from
Zoner's archive. "It even comes with a copy of the entire book
on CD that you can install and search. The great CGA master Yoda
 Winchell even recomends it."

"Aaaaaaah," this got their attention. If Master Winchell
recommends it, it must not be too bad.

"Say, CPU, since you have read it, why not show us a few things
 here," VGA suggested.

CPU sits looking at his "in" box in Pine, thinking to
himself, "New mail on FanFiction List, Show them Win95 stuff,
FanFics, Win95, Fanfics, Win, Fanfics, Fanfics, Fan..."

RAM sees the look on CPU face and chimes in with, "You know, since it's a
little late, if you show us this, I might just order pizza and
eat here instead of leaving and going home...."

This had the desired effect as "Quit, Yes, Logout" was entered
quicker than RAM or VGA could follow.

"Here's the phone. Speed dial #2. Coupons are on the fridge with the best
deals on top (prepaired and maintained courtesy of She who I love beyond
life itself - aka - She who must be obeyed). I'm in the mood for pepperoni
 and extra cheese."

Wizzzzz (chair on rollers rolling across room). Knuckles cracking. "Ok
class. Here is how we can start maximizing memory usage under Windows 95,"
 CPU began...........
