Okay, here's an idea for a Ranma fic that focuses on Genma. While this idea
happens to be banging around in my noggin' at the moment, IMHO any story
that focused on the OTHER cursed character in the Ranmaverse would
be interesting to see. I am not familiar enough with the Ranmaverse to
write this story but I'm posting this idea publicly in the hopes that someone
will.

This idea rose out of a discussion with a certain Lupine member of the list
about why a story about Genma wouldn't be of interest. The main reason is
that Genma is a parent and the parents in the story are really just background
characters. While I agree with this reasoning, I pointed out that the curse is the
real source of what gives this series its twist and Genma has been cursed like
Ranma. So how to put this 'background' character into the focus?

What if . . .

. . .  after hearing of a priest who could remove their curse, father and son
journey to a strange temple. Behind the temple is a beautiful pond. The priest
instructs them to dunk their heads into the pond to remove the curse. He also
warns them that there is no guarantee that the cure will work, in fact it could
have unpredictable side-effects. Of course Father and Son get into a fight as to
who should go first and manage to hurl each other into the pond. Because they
were immersed with the water simultaneously AND they were completely
immersed, not just their heads, their minds exchange bodies! Then, after
the priest informs them that he cannot do anything for them at the moment,
the two journey back to Nerima. Genma tells his son they must not tell the
others about what has happened until they can get this new curse fixed. . .

How would they fix the problem? What would they do in the meantime?
Would Genma take advantage of the situation to show Ranma how he wants
him to behave towards Akane? Would Ranma get jealous? Would he take
advantage of the situation by punishing 'young' Genma for all the times his
father humiliated his son? How would Genma feel about turning into a girl
when he got wet? And Ranma as a panda? How would Genma react to Kuno at
school? (think about Genma's martial arts skills in Ranma's body!!!). Then of
course there are the interactions of the other characters ;) It's not a new idea
but it would be fun to see.
