Warren's handling of them has always seemed to me to be a rip-off of the
originals, and he seems to lack any kind of real "feel" for how Kei and
Yuri should be portrayed.

If asked, the standard line has always been that the DIRTY PAIR comic is
based upon Takachiho's original novels, not the anime. However, I have
read THE GREAT ADVENTURE OF THE DIRTY PAIR, and it's nothing like what
Warren writes. Kei and Yuri are much more restrained, Kei is much more
feminine, Mughi plays a greater role, and the two *really are psychic*!

you're letting that baka impose his ruthless view of them on everybody
who is still loyal to the original DP

My guess is that nearly all the loyal fans of the original DP quit reading
Warren ages ago. I stuck around for as long as I have only because Warren
was my first DP exposure. ("Big Bang" was written with only the first
comic series and a script of PROJECT EDEN for reference. I hadn't seen
any anime at that point.)

The only sad thing is that we'll never get a decent original adaptation of
the Angels, but if other anime are any indication, we probably wouldn't
have anyway. Most American adaptations of anime in comics suck, either
with horrible writing or pathetic art or both.

Please remember, you have your own fans.

So I keep hearing. :-) I don't think there's as many as you might
believe, however. Remember, the net is not the world. At AX92, I had
people spontaneously shaking my hand and taking pictures of me. At AX95,
no one recognized me outside of the fanfic panel, and then it seemed to be
only the other writers.

I like to write, and I love it when people enjoy my work, but I refuse to
get an ego about it. I don't want to become like so many of the
self-important egomaniacs who seem to populate the American anime and
manga world. :-)
