Thanks. I'm touched, honestly, but...

S' the honest truth. If it wasn't for my natural state of organization
(which would have anarchist screaming for order) I'd pobably have them in
arms reach with print outs.

To me, I really can't see much, if any of Warren's influence....

There's *plenty* of Warren influence. I drew as much from Warren as I did from
the anime, sometimes more. When I began to disagree with him, I toned down
this aspect, and eliminated that one, but Warren was always there. A few
examples:

-- The "interface sockets" behind the ears have been in all my stories
-- The "you can't warp into a gravity well" idea
-- The Warren characters in REUNIONS: Ayoob, Paul, Shasti

I think I have to rephrase my meaning. You used _physical_ aspects of
Warrensn's universe as a starting point. But as for philosophy? Uh-uh.
The interphase sockets, fine. Minor touch at best. You can't warp into a
gravity well isn't something that Warren pioneered; it's been a accepted
"law" of SF for a good while (or ignored as the case may be. -_^) So you
used the Shasti characters. Inso far as I can tell from what I've seen
of the source (granted I don't own the TPB or issues because I have a
dislike for Warren's art style), the E101E Shasti and the Warren version
parted ways a great deal when Larry defined her before the incident, and
when both of you wrote Reunions you finished shaping a totally different
view. I have a feeling if Warren brings her back (which is likely if he
goes monthly), that the odds on seeing the side and viewpoint of Shasti
in E101-E/Reunions is about slim to none.

I have been a fan of Warren, and that's why this hurts so much. He's been
crapping all over classic DP fans for years, but this is the first time he's
really stuck it to his own followers. (Well, the less rabid ones. His biggest
fans believe he can do no wrong and will surely find this latest development to
be "crucial realm".)

And Trekkers'll be debating who's the better Captain for decades. To
me, their intitled to their opinion, and I mine.

Maybe I'm overstepping my bounds, and I KNOW I'll like Ryan's other fics, but
I don't want to let something I think is special die due to commercial idiocy.

I thank you. However, I don't want to be known as simply "the Dirty Pair
fanfic writer". I do dabble in other things. :-) For example, I posted part
one of "Star of Jurai" the day I came on the list, and yet I have received only
one response, to at least three messages complimenting me on my Dirty Pair
stuff. If you truly appreciate my writing, I hope you will give me the chance
to expand my horizons.

Ryan, I've dyin' for Star (which I haven't read due to logistic
troubles fixed today) for a good bit as well as Larry's American in
Jurai, which I've been nagging him about. I don't mind you writing
elsewhere, Hell I'll probably like it as much as the other works. What
got me freaked is you swearin off on the Pair. To me, that makes it like
Warren has won. I'm too much the fan of your stuff (and the Angels in
general) to let you trap yourself in that mindset and firm it up without
making a plea. I'm not asking for you to exclude others or be known as
"The DP fanfic guy", but at the same time I'm not about to let what work
you have done be the last.
