So I thought that, just for the hell of it, I'd toss out the idea: what 
about turning the ML into an alt. newsgroup?  With the amount of daily 
traffic, there's more than enough justification for one.  Creating it 
would be child's play.  Someone who knows how could set up a gateway 
between the ML and the group, so that the ML could still be used by 
those unable to receive the group.

What do you think?  It's just an idea.  No flames, please.  :-)

An interesting idea.  On the other hand, because the ML is restricted to
a certain group of people (those who subscribe) as it is now, everybody
kinda sorta knows everyone else.  A big, if slightly grating at times,
family.  Changing it into an alt group would ruin that.

Witness the friendly play we had with Saf's bounty hunting, the bios,
the "my planetoid's better than your Blue Lightning" thread, etc.  People
would be much more reluctant to be that personal if it were an alt group.
I know I would.

So, while a *separate* alt group dedicated to fanfic discussion might be
interesting, I'd rather leave the ML as it is.

Oh, just remembered.  The rec.arts.anime.* RFD calls for a fanfic
discussion rec group, already.  So this would be slightly redundant if
that goes through.
