First off, let me say that, so far, I think this is a pretty cool ML,
despite the difficulties as of late.

111 messages isn't all that much. I regularly get 50-odd messages, and
I'm on three ML's.

So I thought that, just for the hell of it, I'd toss out the idea: what
about turning the ML into an alt. newsgroup? With the amount of daily
traffic, there's more than enough justification for one. Creating it
would be child's play. Someone who knows how could set up a gateway
between the ML and the group, so that the ML could still be used by
those unable to receive the group.

What do you think? It's just an idea. No flames, please. :-)

Yeah, sounds good, but why? I like it just the way it is (spam excluded)

I'd rather keep it as a ML...
It's smaller, cozier and les likely to be noticed by loonies...well the
wrong sort of loonies...
  and Re: Spam
As loon as it's good SPAM (lightly seasoned) it's fine...
and and Re: Sort of off threads...:
Again o.k. as long as we don't forget why this list is here...
I don't see anything wrong with sharing opinions/viewpoints within a
small group as it tends to foster more inner ties and understanding
(whoops...it does seem like there is a use for a Psych degree..)
Also posting to a newsgroup you are more likely to get your head shot
off by someone who does not know where you are coming from and will not
be around long enough to. Also (boy, I'm on a roll) if nobody say's
anything about a story on a ML you can yell at all of us and ask why
the hell not... not a likely in an alt.newsgroup. And finally, Ya, I
know I'm not writing..I'm a reader (right now) maybe over the holls...
boy think of al that mail waiting for those who go away for more than 4
or 5 days mmmmmmmmmm!
