OK, am back from AnimEast and had a good time.

Got my hands on 

Tales of Genji, El Hazard Vol 2, and the new Ranmas, and lots and lots of 
CDs.  Somebody mail me the translations for the Doco2 and the Hot Battle 
CD and the OAV CD, please?  Also got my hands on "the Best of Arslan" 
CD.  Am listening now as I type and its sending shivers up my back.  
Norihiru Tsuru is INCREDIBLE!!!

I picked up some Nausicaa and Gunbuster CDs (and the Dirty Pair: Project
Eden soundtrack too!) and some Mikimoto and Artmic art books.

	Now the big news.  Ghost in the Shell was incredible!!  Lavishly

fight sequences, and an ok dubbing job.  This one I'll be waiting for to 
come out on tape.

GitS *was* great.  The FX Animation is really stunning (I particularly like
when the characters were running around in their thermo-optic camoflage.)
It's typical Shirow though - talky, obscure, and confusing (it wouldn't be
Shirow if it wasn't confusing <g>).  The story is an alternate version of
the "Puppet Master" story line from the 1st manga series (I've been told
that Shirow has been working on the 2nd series).

I thought the dub was ok (this is a dub, but the people in the Manga booth
told me it would be released on video as sub and dub - don't let this stop
you from seeing it in a theater if you have the chance!)

	Some rather dumb people in the audience.  I actually heard this:
"They say ghost a hundred times in the movie, but they never explain what 
it is!?  What is it!!!"  Oh well, I guess Otaku's are a variety, no?

That's funny!  They spent the whole movie talking about the ghosts!

Did you notice that Major Kusanagi never blinked (until the end)?  Now with
those eyes she had, THAT gave me the creeps.

AD Vision people said that Gunsmith Cats 1 will be out in February in 3 VHS
formats - sub, dub, and special edition sub that includes the 'making of'
File 0.  AnimEigo's new title, "Spirit of Wonder" was premiered.  They
showed the dub of it (so new that the timing codes were still on the screen)
- they've actually made another good dub IMO.

BGC fans may be interested to hear that Toren Smith told me that Adam Warren
is currently planning the story for the 2nd BGC comic series.  Toren also
said that Adam likes to say stuff just to spin people up and get a reaction.
So that infamous interview where Adam said that the 2nd series would start
with Priss with her arms ripped off was quite probably Adam Warren having
some 'fun'.
