I think that's the point he's trying to make.

Not quite, but more or less.  I don't want to put very much into it, as
to not spoil anything even remotely related to the important parts of
the plot.  Using Ranma was probably a bad idea on my part due the the
sheer volume of fanworks done, but the idea remains the same.  The whole
"sum it up in 50 words or less" idea.
