Hi All!  Below is chapter two to my fanfic.  I hope it's of some 
entertainment value.  Any and all comments will be taken with much 
appreciation and most likely be melded into the next version.

btw, still rewriting ch1 in hopes that it makes more sense. :|

*** The Breaking of the string ch. 2 ***

[At the tendo dojo, the family is just getting up, Kasumi making breakfast
 as she hums to herself, Ranma and Genma fighting over the pond, and Nabiki
 brushing her teeth. No one even suspects...]

Soun[walking toward the pond through the double sliding doors]: Saotome
 -kun! Breakfast is ready! 

Genma & Ranma[as both turn while clutching one another]: What!!??
 Aaaahhhhh!!!!

[They both fall into the pond as Soun turns away slowly shaking his head.
 In the kitchen, Kasumi has finished preparing breakfast and has begun to 
 set up the table.]

Kasumi: Akane! Nabiki! Breakfast's ready!

Nabiki[walking past the living room with a toothbrush in her mouth]: Coming!

[As the members of the two families begin to sit, they notice that one among
 them is missing.  Worry begins to dawn on the face of Soun Tendo as Ranma
 and Genma fights over a piece of pickled cabbage.  

 As Soun was about to knock the two pests into the wall so that he may sit
 and worry some more, the phone rings, jolting his already over-worked
 nerves as Kasumi goes to answer it...]

Soun: Kasumi dear, who is it?

Kasumi[walking in from hall sounding a bit tense]: Father! That was tofu 
 sensei. There was an accident... Akane she...

Soun[jumps to his feet shouting]: NANII!!!!!??? Akane!? Akane! [runs
 around continuing to shout out the name of his youngest daughter]

Kasumi[trying to calm her father]: Akane's alive father, she's in the
 hospital. I... I think she's alright.  Tofu said that we should go and 
 see her.

Soun[sitting and crying]: oh! why did this have to happen to Akane....
 why... [raising his tear streaked face] Saotome-kun! 

[at this, Both genma and ranma turn from their bickering with confused
 looks on their faces. Each holds half of the cabbage they were fighting 
 over in their hands.]

Genma[becoming all manners and seriouness]: Tendo-kun, I will come with
 you in your time of need old friend. [turns to face his only son] RANMA!!

Ranma[somewhat shocked at the sudden rise in his father's voice ]: H..
 Hai? Now what do you want?

Genma[gestures at Ranma by pointing a finger at him]: You'll come with me to 
 see Akane. She _is_ your fiance and it _is_ your duty!

Ranma[turns away from his father]: Hmph!  Why would I want to go see that 
 uncute tomboy? Besides, you arranged it between us and her injury was not 
 my fault! 

[Before Genma could reply to his statement, ranma makes a dash for his school
 and runs off, not letting his family see the concern and worry breaking 
 onto the surface of his face.]

*** The Breaking of the String, Chapter 3 ***

[ ]'s denote action/narration.


[We are looking at Furinkan High School from above and zoom in towards
 the second story window.  Inside the classroom, we can see Ranma
 sitting with his male friends, eating lunch.  Akane's usual clique of
 friends walk over to Ranma.]

Friend#1: Hey Ranma, we heard Akane's been injured, how is she?

Friend#2: Yeah! You're her fiancee!  So you must have been to the
 hospital to see how she was, right?

Ranma[doesn't look up as he mumbles]: No, I don't know how she's doing.
 I haven't visited her yet, and it wasn't my choice to be engaged to
 that tomboy! [his last few words were spoken as if out of breath.]

Friend#2: What!!??  You haven't even gone to see her yet? What kind of
 boyfriend are you?  [ she turns away abruptly and walks off.] Hmph! Now
 I know why Akane hits you! Insensitive jerk!!!

Friend#1[quickly chases after friend#2]: Wait for me!!

[Just before the two are out of earshot, Ranma can hear the two talking
 to other friends telling them what Ranma told them, and then some.]

Ranma[groans...]: Maybe... Maybe I should have gone to see her... 

[As we pull back, Ranma groans again and lets out a long breath as he
 just let's his head fall on his desk.  People around him don't even
 notice.  They just kept on talking and talking and talking.

 Outside, we can see a figure crouched on one of the upper branches of a
 nearby tree.  As we look closer, we can see the figure is dressed in a
 striped outfit of yellow and sand.  As he stands, we can see that  he
 wears a similarly colored bandanna around his head.]

Ryouga[clenching his fists]: RANMA!!! [jumps towards the building and
 moments before passing through the open window, water washes over him
 from one floor above.  Luckily, his momentum carries him through the
 window to land neatly on Ranma's desk.] Bweee!!!!

Ranma[looking off somewhere, not noticing P-chan]: ...

Ryouga[scrabbling about Ranma's upper body inflicting very minimal
 damage]: Bwe! Bwe! Bweeeeee!

[Almost like clockwork, Ranma reaches up, grabs the pig and flattens him
 into the table]

Ryouga[eyes crossed out]: Bwe~~~~.

[Without another glance, Ranma stands up and walks out of the classroom. 
 Just as he steps out, Ryouga comes to.  He looks around for Ranma.  Not
 finding him, he begins his search for some hot water.

 At the hospital, we see Akane in a hospital bed.  She also happens to
 be within a oxygen tent and a body cast.  Various tubes have been
 inserted into her once healthy and whole body to help keep her alive. 
 Alongside the bed, we see Soun Tendo kneeling and crying uncontrollably
 as Genma Saotome sits in the shadows crossing his arms.  The only sound
 to be heard is the tone produced from the heart monitor.]

Soun[begins sobbing and weeping]: Oh Akane!!  Please come back to me!!
 Please come back... [more sobbing and weeping]  

Genma[standing up, walks over to his friend and puts a hand on his
 shoulder]: Tendo-kun, come home.  There's nothing you can do now.  She
 needs to rest. [he gently pulls Soun away from the tent and out of the
 room.]

[As the two leave the room, they turn out the lights, leaving Akane
 there alone in the dark.  Her only friend and companion, the heart
 monitor glowing a bright green in the gloom, encouraging her with the
 only thing it could.  Beep.... Beep....]
