You know - this has given me a thought (heaven forbid..) - what kind of 
ship in the ST/TNG or *any other* universe would people be interesting in 
*acquiring* (as in given a choice, which ship would ya take)...

        That depends on what I'm going to use it for and what kind of
limits. If there were no limits than I would want a Borg Battleship.

 Ok well for my own part - I'd take a Maquis light fighter, and here's 
the reason: it can be used by one person, is warp capable and carries a 
Sh*tload of weapons for a ship of it's size.  (it was a decision between 
that or a Federation Runabout - but I prefer the heavier weapons....)

        I thought the Runabout has more firepower than a Maquis light
fighter. Remember the Maquis light fighter is an old Federation design.

Well - lets have other people's thoughts - don't limit yourself to ST 
stuff - there's lotsa space ships/fighters out there, go for it...

        If we are not limited to the ST stuff then I would go for an
Asgerd-class Imperial planetoid from David Weber's "The Armageddon
Inheritance" That might be a bit of an overkill though :) However, which an
one acre captain's atrium I got to have it. The ship has a normal crew
complement of about 1.2 million and can run at a minimal comlement of 15,000
it has lots of redundency. Of course a lot of it is used to crew the many
small 100,000+ ton parisit battleships and numerous fighters. Oh yeah I
forgot to mention that it's "only" about 1.2 times the size of the moon and
can destory a planet with a couple of gravitonic warheads(miniture black
holes). In that book this is a standard ship!! And the Fourth Empire had
more than 100,000 ship of that size!! Let's see if you could beat that Brett!!
