       I have a question. Why?

What I mean is why do you write fan-fictions? i can't be
for the money now, can it?

Why does one climb a mountain? Because it is there.

Zen koans aside, for some authors it's a sort of tribute to the writers
of the original series. Sometimes it's just the creative results of the
"what if?" type questions people ponder about. I started becuase I felt
the need to return something to the community of other fanfic writers who
provided more great stories in the universes that I enjoyed originally.
Now I do it "just because", as a creative outlet and way to keep myself
busy. For some people certain ideas "beg to be written".

Different people write for different reasons.
